Hello and welcome to Pans Lair - Living Naturally In Tune With Nature,
I was born in southern Bavaria, being born and raised there I enjoyed quite a lot of natural activities. My parents had Haflinger horses and so I grew up mostly on an old property with horses, and lots of forest and nature around me. Of course, the bavarian Alps were always close and I became fascinated by activities such as hunting for mushrooms or herbs at a quite early age. In fact, I already could name most of the edible mushrooms and herbs before I went to elementary school. I have been taught to ride on a horse as well, my father used to chop his own firewood, we have raised chicken and many other things...
This all influenced my way of life and outlook in a very intense kind of way. My love and fascination for nature, and living close and near to nature, influences my everyday life as well as my goals and dreams in this life. It has become a close, never ending relationship and I am alway eager to find out more and dig deeper. I am interested in homesteading and self sufficient living as well as hobby farming, I am into permaculture and biodynamic gardening, herbalism, as well as other topics such as philosophy and spirituality, I enjoy studying old norse and european forms of shamanism, their beliefs and practices, from Runosophy and exploring both the Futhark and the Uthark, to all sorts of mythologies, folklore and old traditions connected to the realm of nature and living in harmony with its powers and resources. I speak german, bavarian dialects, american english as well as swedish language.
Nature, to me, is a big mystery, yet it also is our place of origin; the source of all life and everything around us. Not only that, but we are a part of it. A part of the whole. Nature is us as well... the human mind and soul as well as the endless creative mind in nature that gives birth to many, many life forms.
It is our home and in order to become whole individuals and to discover our potential and understand ourselves, nature is our teacher and an open book.
We just have to listen, open up our eyes, and more importantly, our mind... in order to see what surrounds us.
This blog is my guide as well as my written journey to explore, digging deeper, practical solutions to live that way of life... from gardening to permaculture, from herbalism to identifying mushrooms, from my old life in Germany to my new life here in the United States, my search for property, to establishing my own hobby farm and anything nature related. Feel welcome to read and share knowledge.
